"When we were Kids"

Ron was one in a million. . . A man who stood by us in troubled times. He was there to help at the time our daughter, Robin, was killed. . .and later would call to see if he could be of more help. Ron had a heart that was bigger than life. He worked every day of his life and said it made it possible for him to help folks. I have many memories of Cousin, Ron, when we were kids growing up in a more Peaceful time. One story I shall never forget: Ron's Mom and Dad, Aunt Martha and Uncle Arney were my Godparents which entitled me to spend a week or so with them each summer. Mom warned Aunt Martha that at Mass each Sunday I would feel faint. I was 7. This was before they "lifted" the fasting after midnight" Communion law. So, of course, Mom's warning became reality that Sunday. Her instructions were to allow me to go outside for fresh air. Uncle Arney nudged Ron to follow me in case I fainted. Ron walked slowly about 10 pews behind me. On the way home Arney scolded Ron for being so far behind! Ron simply replied, "I had her back"! And after all of these years Ron still "had my back"!
